This new release hit my doorstep ystrday and couldn't resist trying:
1. OjaiVnyd Syrah Calif (14.0%; 75% RollRanch/25% JohnSebastiano vnyd; 40% whole cluster) 2011: Very dark color; intense blackberry/boysenberry/Syrah bit coffee/smokey/meaty light toasty/oak slight black olive/roasted lovely intense nose; fairly tart intense blackberry/Syrah/boysenberry light toasty/oak slight milk of magnesia/smokey flavor w/ light/hard tannins; very lone very strong blackberry/Syrah/boysenberry/spicy fairly tart slight black olive/roasted/smokey finish w/ a bit of hard tannins; needs a yr or so and should go out 10 yrs or more; big Syrah fruit but structured; a solid 4-square SBCnty Syrah w/ slight Rhonish and classic Ojai character; a lovely Syrah at a stupid/silly price. $25.00

1. I have, of course, followed AdamTolmach from the very start when he was making his wines in the dairy barn in LosAlamos w/ JimClendenen/BobLindquist and MaryVigarosa.
This basic Ojai Calif Syrah was recently released and at the case price of $25 w/ free shipping (alas Nov 15 deadline), makes it an incredible deal. Probably the best Calif Syrah from Adam ever.
