WTN: 2001 Arcadian Sleepy Hollow Pinot Noir

by Diane (Long Island) » Mon Nov 18, 2013 11:50 am

I was going to start by saying that I haven't had a disappointing Arcadian Sleepy Hollow Pinot Noir, but then I realized I haven't had any disappointing Pinot from Arcadian. Although, I can say it has been a long time since I have had one so totally in the zone. Maybe a 1999 several years ago, but this one is prime for drinking now. Earthy aromas are dominated by pine. The palate is similar with the tingling sensation from the acidity, and the finish is long. The fruit has moved to the background. This wine has been enjoyable at every stage of its evolution.

2001 must have been a particularly good year in that area. Or at least, one would want to conclude that based on your bottle and the 01 Pisoni we opened two years ago. It was spectacular, yet had a good life ahead of it still. We've been drinking the 06 Sleepy Hollows of late, which seem to be early maturing. I recently picked up a six pack of 06 Pisoni and wonder if it's the same. Of course, these are all second hand purchases so less than perfect prior custody could also be in play here. Has anyone had an 06 Pisoni?

Yep, and since this was my last bottle, I am glad to be getting another.

Jim, what do you know about the other Pinot being offered?

Jenise - I don't know why I don't have Pisoni or Sleepy Hollow from 2006, but it seems I only have Francesca's Cuvée from that year. I drank a 2000 Pisoni a year or so ago and I think it might be early to be drinking the 2006, but with 6 of them, it's worth opening one.

Agreed; but they arrived just recently so I'll let them rest another month or so.

Diane, it seems to be a new bottling for Joe. Nothing in CT. But a 2010? He doesn't usually release so young. Interesting.
