WTN: 2x from the Saar

2012 Peter Lauer Saar Riesling Barrel X
Medium-bodied, bone dry, focused, slate-driven, with tangy acidity, and notes of limes and citrus zest. Very good, as usual.

2011 Hofgut Falkenstein Niedermenniger Herrenberg Spätburgunder Spätlese Trocken
Light in weight, very mineral, with good underlying acidity. Earthy, with cranberry and raspberry flavors, plus various spices. Gains a bit more weight over time without losing any of its balance. Reminiscent of top cru Beaujolais (Morgon?), with more minerals. Very good.

Andrew, I'm glad you liked Falkenstein's 2011 Herrenberg Spätburgunder. I agree with you about it being reminiscent of top cru Beaujolais, such as Morgon from Marcel Lapierre.

David, I hope you will like the four Falkenstein Rieslings. John Ritchie at Chambers Street Wines recently had a great offer on some 2012 Falkenstein Rieslings, including Sekt and the Sonnenberg Riesling Spätlese feinherb. They still have a couple of 2011s, too. Joe Salamone at Crush has the excellent 2012 Herrenberg Riesling Spätlese feinherb. I especially liked 2011 vintage of this bottling.
