2007 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Riserva Pora - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco (11/10/2013)The 6th different 2007 Produttori Riserva I have tried, and the one with theleast charm & the most astringent tannins. There's good red fruit & tar aromas and flavors, but for right now the finish of the wine is too astringent to be enjoyable. My guess is that there is enough depth to allow for short to mid term cellaring for the tannins to soften/fade, but it's just that - a guess.

Leave them alone. My last one was not much fun, either. Wait five years and you´ll hopefully get your money´s worth, the Produttori tend to give bang for the buck.

I've had better luck with the other Riservas. Just touring through some of them (1 bottle each), while laying down a bunch more.

Sounds like I got a bit more pleasure out of my bottle than you did, but that could be largely the novelty factor on my end. Because I also came to the same conclusion: don't open any more for a while.

Appreciate your willing ness to toss a bottle under the bus for the sake of early assessment, but I agree that these need many years. I'm not sure just how much you can tell from such an early tasting, but I'll try to remember to look this on up when I want to open mine in another decade!

It's really a nod to the supposed accessible nature of the 2007 vintage. Some folks I thought I could trust indicated these were not going to age well.

Sounds like another data point might be in order around 2017-2018 or so!
