History Channel: Modern Marvels - Wine

I watched this show last night and found it informative and well put together. If they repeat it, it's worth watching. Topics covered 2-Buck Chuck, Chateau Montelena, Champagne, Port (learned a lot there), the 1975 Paris tasting, the large cellar at the restaurant in Paris that was bricked off and hid from the Nazis, modern viticulture and many more.

I saw this too. I knew Charles Shaw was a large producer, but had no idea exactly what that encompassed. That facility rivals some of the smaller oil & gas refineries in size and complexity.

I'm not sure how I feel about that. It looks like everything is state of the art manufacturing, but it takes away from this mental image I have of the Chateau Montelena or Estate type wineries.

After viewing that tank farm and the bulk tankers hauling wine around? I may never be interested in trying any of Bronco's wines.

What does Bronco have to do with your image of Montelena?

Bo Barrett of Montelena was interviewed and said that Bronco was an important part of the wine industry, just different from his market.

Their websit http://www.history.com is just about the hardest to navigate that I've ever visited. I could not find where they have ever shown it, much less when it might be shown in the future.

You're right Carl. Very difficult, but I did browse around and found:

It just gives a brief description and says that it was shown last night, but does not say when it will be shown again. If I see it scheduled again, I'll post it.

The Bronco wines and Montelena were featured in the piece. I didn't mean Montelena in particular. But as a comparison to any estate type wine facility.
