1. BlackSmith 54% Grenache/46% Syrah FurlongEstatesVnyd/AlexVlly (14.1%; www.BlackSmithCellars.com) SuisunCity 2006: Very dark color w/ little bricking; rather deep blackberries/black cherries/cola/chocolate quite perfumey/lilacs spicy lovely nose; somewhat soft smooth/polished/textured rather plummy/blackberry/black cherry bit chocolatyquite attractive flavor flavor w/ light/smooth tannins; med.long soft/smooth/textured somewhat plummychocolaty/blackberry/black cherry/licorice finish w/ plush/smooth tannins; lacks the usual high-toned/strawberry character of Grenache; a seamless/well-made red at a very fair price. $20.00 (WoP)

A wee BP:
1. BlackSmith is the wnry of MattSmith, formerly of Beaulieu/Dashe/Rosenblum. Makes his wines on Alemeda at Rockwall, I believe. Don't know if he's still in business or not. The WebSite is totally stale & out-of-date.

Matt's full-time gig these days is managing the cellar at RockWall, and he's still making his wine there.
I don't know just how I'm supposed to play this scene, but I ain't afraid to learn...
