I wonder if anyone else has tried this wine? Tonight I opened a bottle of Terra Burdigala Causse Rouge Bordeaux (wow, what a mouthfull). It is 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon.
The color is dark garnet with with some brown around the edges.
On the nose I get a lot of barnyard and maybe some dried dark red fruits (plums, raisins, cherries?). Maybe some leather or toast.
It is a fairly heavy bodied wine with smooth tannins up front. On the finish, however, the tannins seem to have a delayed puckering effect. I get a lot of oak and just a hint of vanilla (?). The dark red fruits are there but only vaguely. I seem to get some unsweetened chocolate and maybe some anise. The finish is long.
This is not an expensive wine ($10-$15) but is good for the buck. The vintage is 2003.
If anyone else has had it I would love to compare notes.
