Usually alsatian producers say Muscat must be opened young, because its lovely scents are fragile and volatile. To tell the truth, I don't like too much alsatian Muscat, but having had this as a present by Mrs. Schoffit in 2009 and conscious of the greatness of this Grand Cru, I decided to offer this bottle a little age.
Decanted 45 minutes. Deep yellow with an orange idea. Not too brilliant. Interesting and clean nose of musk - a lot of musk - and some geranium notes. Medium body, some RS, a little thin in the center mouth; herbs and musk again; good length but I was expecting something deeper and mineral.
Definitively, Muscat from Alsace is not for me. Furthermore, this is not a cheap label and if I think to the countless excellent Moscato we have in Italy (dry, too) the q/p ratio of this bottle is rather disastrous.
