Klöch is located in extreme southeast Austria, about as far as you can get before crossing into Slovenia. The region, Klöcher Traminer, is known for its Gewürztraminer and Traminer, and a combination wine museum/shop is now open where wines from the region can be tasted and purchased. This and several others were bought there on a recent trip. The logo of Klöch is a rose in a wine glass. Whether testimony to the power of advertising or not we both detected a delicate aroma of roses in this, a halbtrocken. Not as spicy as more familiar Gewürztraminers, the taste was full bodied and mellow, almost syrupy but without excessive sweetness. The finish was long and smooth. A very nice introduction to a type of Gewürztraminer we are not used to.
