WTN: 2001 ESJ Syrah (California)

2001 Edmunds St. John Syrah - USA, California (9/2/2013)
So once again the ESJ Syrah performs at a level far beyond its modest price. Dark cherry, tar, leather and licorice notes all come together in the nose, with herbal elements coming in through the mid palate and finish. This has been and remains a lovely wine.

Agreed.
And, in the FWIW category of thread drift, earlier today I was stomping on Steve's 2013 Grenache destined for the Rocks and Gravel bottling. If it comes across a bit salty it's because it was easy to work up a sweat.
Fun times . . .
Best, Jim

Ugh 2013. I'm barely ready for 2012.

But...bring it on!
