Wow, check out this tasting note!!

Knew that would get you looking! Another mystery wine for you forumites to try to figure out so let`s get going. 13.5% alc, SC.

Colour. Medium purple red with watery purple hues on the rim. Not much intensity in the centre here.

Nose. Freshly crushed fruits ooze out of the glass. Cherry, plum, no oak I believe and as it breathes some savoury, gamey blackberry. A very nice fruit forward nose here.

Palate. Initial mouthfeel entry is soft tannins, some acidity on finish, savoury and juicy ripe berries. As it warms up (good idea to serve this slightly chilled), boysenberry, spice, blackberry, "plum and cherry" thought fellow taster.
Old world it ain`t, opened 4 hours but drinkable on unscrewing I`d say. Good fruit concentration here but not as savoury as a previous vintage and this lacks the sour cherry too. Do not expect too much change overnight, will report back.

So there you are forumites, will be in and out today to see how we are making out!! Oh, cost was under $20 Cdn and went quite well with a roasted BBQ duck, parsnips and roasted pots.

Procedure is for vintage, grape varietal and area of production/winery too if possible.

I don't think he indicated enough acidity to be a Baco.

Wrong country, wrong grape but good try. Interesting that u should have picked hybrid? I know BN and the acidity here was about the same.

Hunter Valley - Yarraman Estate
I have Chambourcin growing in my back yard vineyard, but have never had an Aussie one (only VA and MD), so a stab in the dark from the following website:

Hopefully, Howie can tell us what tipped him off?

Pretty much a process of elimination. The description indicated hybrid and an Ontario Foch seemed a good start. With both of them wrong, I decided to stick with hybrids and Chambourcin seemed to be the next logical choice. Since you live in Canada, I figured I could eliminate the Mid-Atlantic states, so the left me with Australia. If I was wrong on the hybrid path, I was going to take a stab at South African Pinotage. So, do I win James' secret decoder ring? :D

I am just off to the Silver tasting and have found some cocoa on the finish. 2 glasses left for later.

Where do I find this ring? Call Howie?
