From Darlington Point, Victoria.
Very dark purple in the glass.
A rich nose, smoky, spicy, red licorice and chocolate.
Rich in the mouth, rather tangy acidity, smoky, smoked meats, chocolate, black cherry, berry, smooth and quite big, toasty oak.
With time, the toasty oak became quite dominant, to the point that it became annoying: sort of like sucking on a lightly-charred two by four.
Toasty oak on the long finish.
Would have been a much better wine if the oak had been kept in check.
Screwcap closure. Purchased for $14 (Canadian).
