My first Burlotto Barolo. When I first opened it, it felt strange, very un-nebbiolo like, with floral aromatics, sour cherry. In the mouth were aniseed liquor flavors, orange rind and bergamot, along with catnip and marjoram. At first, I thought I was tasting a schioppettino, but it was lighter than that, more delicate and with greater finesse. The first night I just thought "this is weird." Then, on the second night, it really blossomed and took off. I won't say by becoming 'more typical', but you got more a sense of the wine's nebbiolo-ness but from a different and refreshing perspective. A different perspective than I am used to and one that I wish to acquaint myself with more in the future. A-
