WTN: 2011 Morin Sancerre (Sauvignon Blanc) Vielles Vignes

I had a glass of this Loire Valley wine at Georges Brasserie in Charlotte. When I planned my trip to Charlotte I didn't realize restaurant week was in full swing but I took advantage of the three-course $30 restaurant week menu at Georges. I had the Sancerre with vichyssoise and ordered Au Bon Climat Pinot Gris/Pinot Blanc to drink with the tarragon-crusted salmon with lobster sauce, roasted Yukon gold potatoes and green beans. (My dessert was a Tahitian vanilla bean creme brulee.) The Sancerre was really nice and crisp with a slight delicacy. Just a hint of newmown grass along with grapefruit and lemon. Delightful! Fortunately, I purchased one bottle of this last year from a wine shop in Apex, NC without tasting it first. I haven't opened it yet but will soon. I wonder if that store has any more bottles on hand?

i bought a case of this. i liked the delicacy and subtlety - almost vacheron like. the higher tier version is just enough better and unlike some not oak dominated.
