RIP A. Niederberger (von Buhl, von Winning, Bassermann)

Achim Niederberger died yesterday of cancer at the age of 56. He owned the wineries Bassermann-Jordan, von Winning/Dr. Deinhard, and was set to take over 100% ownership of von Buhl in Jan. 2014, as well as Villas, Hotels and restaurants in the Pfalz.

Sad. Way too young.

Terrible news - way too young to go. Achim did a lot to reinvigorate Dr. Deinhard/von Winning, in particular, even if one didn't necessarily agree with his use of oak. My understanding is that he did a lot to improve the quality of Basserman-Jordan as well.
