2011 Pierre Gonon Vin de Pays de l'Ardèche Les Iles Feray - France, Rhône, Ardèche, Vin de Pays de l'Ardèche (7/21/2013)
I probably should not talk about this wine, but it was so good I had to write a tasting note. Tons of black and blue fruit, but nothing at all overripe. There's a meaty and herbal edge that grounds the wine, making it a very fine companion to food. It's an easy wine to drink, with fine balance. Outstanding value at around $20. Not much that could make it better, especially for the price.
