2001 Florian Weingart Schloss Fürstenberg Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Mittelrhein (7/21/2013)
More than a decade since release, this has slimmed down, and taotes and drinks like spatlese. There's a definite honeyed edge to the wine from botrytis, but it's integrated into the whole, with tropical fruit and a bracing acidity on the finish. The barest hint of bitterness maybe takes it down a notch, but once paired with food that goes completely away. Good stuff and ready to drink now. (88 pts.)

David -

Thank you for the note. I'm not all that familiar with the Mittlerhein compared to most other German regions. Anyway, I haven't been able to figure this out so far: is Schloss Furstenburg a single site, or a proprietary name, after a castle owned by Weingart?

Everything that I've had/seen thus far from Weingart has either been from BH Feuerlay, or has been an "Estate" Riesling. So far, I've liked their wines.

It's a vineyard site. Most Weingart is BHF. I have only seen Schloss Furstenburg once or twice.
