Wine A Rose bubbly
Copper pink wine. Fruity nose of strawberries with good midpalate of plums and strawberries. Nice small bubbles. Refreshing finish of fruit followed by palate cleansing acidity.
Wine B
Pale yellow. Fine bubbles. Faint nose of peaches and yeast. Good midpalate of white peaches, apricots and a medium long finish. Tastes like a classic French champagne.
Wine C
Straw yellow. Light honey nose, kind of shy. Good burst of fruit on the midpalate followed by a long mellow finish. Definitely new world wine style (Bob comments "I have had this wine before and think it is from Oregon or California.")
Wine D
Dark straw color. Biscuity midpalate that speaks of age. Medium long finish of acid and touch of bitter tannins at the back of the palate.
With food.
Wine A Great with Brie. Enhances the fruit of the wine. Nice match with aged gouda. Short breads bring out the cherry-almond taste of this wine.
Wine C Great with chips. Also melds well with Brie and cherry jelly. Very good with aged gouda. Ruth thinks that short breads brings out the almond taste of this wine and it tastes like an almond liquer.
Wines B and D also went well with both cheeses but not quite as good a match as Wines A and C.
With fried panko coated fish (bluegills) Wines A, B, and C all matched nicely with the fish but the star pairing was with D. The fish smoothed out the wine and especially mellowed out the bitter finish.

However, there were no duds and everyone liked all the wines and they were all finished off with our meal. A great tasting
