I found this in the same overlooked box as the 2004 Ponzi Arneis which turned out to be very enjoyable in June. The color was dark purple-brown and rather opaque. Dark fruit and pine needle nuance reside in the nose and palate. Maybe just a little tired and past its peak but still quite drinkable. It held up on the second day and for two days away at a church retreat before I got to the final glass.
(Fourteen members of my church stayed at Trinity Center near Emerald Isle, Salter Path, Atlantic Beach,NC on July 4th and 5th. From the beach we could watch fireworks from Emerald Isle, Coral Bay, and Atlantic Beach.) It was hot and muggy but we were spared the rain from earlier in the week and the food at Trinity Center is great in a non-foodie, downhome way. We had dishes such as pork loin in gravy, scalloped potatoes or beef tips on rice, Friday night was seafood (fried flounder and shrimp and hush puppies) and the dessert buffet included banana pudding, chocolate cake, pecan pie, chocolate chip cookies and raisin cookies. I did enough walking to limit the damage to about half a pound.
