WTN: Failla Syrah Estate SonomaCoast '03...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Mon Jul 01, 2013 1:25 pm

Tried this Fri night w/ Susan:
1. Failla Syrah EstateVnyd/SonomaCoast (14.9%) 2003: Very dark color w/ slight bricking; classic cold-climate/cracked black pepper some toasty/charred/oak rather blackberry/Syrah/licorice slight earthy/mineral/graphite/olive rather complex nose; rather tart strong cracked black pepper/cold-climate Syrah/pungent some blackberry/Syrah/olive somewhat tannic/hard bit dried out strong burnt/charred/toasty/oak flavor; long tannic/bitter/hard bit dried out rather tart some blackberry/black cherry/Syrah classic cold-climate/cracked black pepper fairly complex finish; lots of cold-climate Syrah character w/ loads of charred oak but seems to be drying out somewhat and not sure it'll ever smooth out on the palate.
