2000 Nicolis Angelo E Figli Amarone Della Valpolicella Classico

Color: Deep, dark red.

Nose: Cherry, tobacco and chocolate liqueur.

Taste: Super rich and intense cherry and plum with smoked meat notes. Extended finish of chocolate and toasty oak. A bit of drying on the tongue, but the tannins were not nearly as severe as other, younger Amarones I have tasted.

I rarely drink 10+ year old Amarone because I can’t keep my hands off of the stuff. This wine seems to have aged very nicely.
