V. Sattui Madiera

by Tom NJ » Mon May 27, 2013 3:34 pm

Myy wife's friend from California stayed with us for a few days while on a business trip to NYC recently. It was his first time in the Big Bad East, and we gave him the full-on tourist treatment. He loved it.

After returning home he mailed us out a bottle of V. Sattui Madiera as a thank you gift, which I thought was very nice of him.

I've never had this wine before. According to his note, our friend says it's only available at the winery - although I don't see anything about that on their website.

Can anyone let me know what I'm for here? How does it stack up to a "real" Madiera; what style, estufagem, etc?

Thanks very much!

Tom

I don't know much about Maderia but have read comments from others that the Sattui version is a one of the best domestic examples. I have tried previous bottlings of this wine and its well made. It is generally available directly from the winery but it has been a number if years since I last ordered anything from them. last time we put an order together it was the Maderia that was driving the order as my brother loves this wine.

It is considered one of the better wines that Sattui releases.
