2009 Fontodi Chianti Classico: A big boy, cab-like, dense with lots of oak. Not my favorite of the 09 Chianti's I've had so far (especially at $43 per) but we were on a camping trip and this was the only red we had with us so as something to pair with campfire steaks and grilled asparagus, it worked out very well. Needs time.

2007 Colognone Chianti Ruffina: Rustic and not much stuffing, not oxidative but tired and overpriced for $18 at this point in its life (shelf price this week). Should have been remaindered by the store (Esquin, Seattle). Eh.

2012 Cowan Pinot Noir Rose, North Coast, California: Pale and precise. Color fools you into expecting a lighter wine but this has excellent concentration and pinosity. A stunner. Should have bought more.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Interesting. Lyle Fass is now "distributing" the Cowan Pinot Noir Rose. Dirt cheap.

How cheap is dirt cheap? Jim's direct price was pretty reasonable. $15 less 15%, I believe, so that's $12ish. Gets more expensive, however, when you add back shipping and sales tax, which burns a bit since I don't normally pay sales tax on out of state purchases, but it's not a big deal.

$14.99 ($77.94/6-pack). Since Fass Selections is located in CA, you'd pay the same shipping that you would getting it directly from Cowan Cellars.

I think I have the 2011 Cowan, but not the 2012. :o
