WTN: 1983 J. J. Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spatlese

Thanks to Salil for opening this.

Medium gold color. Aromas of pine needles, forest floor and lemon cream. It's like some magical mix of Prum and Grunhaus. Just sweet enough to be noticeable, but finished completely dry. There's a richness to the wine that comes across the palate as that creamy note, but in the end it is all swept away in an avalanche of pure mineral. This is perfect spatlese exposed to its core of riesling-ness.

Wow. I had this wine when it was much younger, and it was stunning then. I wouldn't have thought it would still be magnificent at age 30!

Paul,

The wine is in no danger of decline any time soon.
