WTN: Cuilleron StJoseph '87..(short/boring)

by TomHill » Thu May 09, 2013 2:22 pm

Had this last night as a mystery wine:
1. Cuilleron StJoseph Cuvee de la Cote AC: StJoseph (12.5%) 1987: Med.color w/ some bricking; very intense BarBQue sauce beautiful smokey/roasted/pungent/frying bacon BoyScout campfire complex nose w/ little fruit; strong BarBQue sauce smokey/roasted/charred/campfire/pungent complex no fruit flavor w/ fair tannins; long strong BarBQue sauce/smokey/roasted/burnt coffee beans/bacon fat complex finish w/ some drying tannins; seems to be drying out some; a rather bizzarely evolved NR w/ strong very exotic smokey BarBQue sauce character; quite good in a perverse way.

Thank you for the note, Tom. I like the entire Cuilleron range, but haven't had one for a bit.

That is some impressive stuff. And interesting use of BBQ sauce as a descriptor.
