WTN: 2004 Clos du Bois Sonoma Pinot Noir

2004 Clos du Bois Sonoma Pinot Noir

Color: Dark red

Aroma: Cherry, dark fruit, herbal notes in the background

Taste: Cherry, rasberry, Asian spice. Medium bodied. A bit too cola-like on the finish.

Food match: Too spicy for the lighly seasoned turkey and trimmings. Created a nasty metallic synergy with the green bean salad.

This was my first Clos du Bois of any kind. Not bad, but at a $16.99 price point I would probably head north (Oregon), or east (France) with my money next time.

That sounds about right for Clos du Bois. They seem to be aiming for vivid, easy to understand flavors, and what they deliver is fine for the price point but savvy wine drinkers can do better.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
