Nervi Gattinara 1978
This is the first older Gattinara I've had - but I've read that these Nervis age wonderfully.

At first I thought this was terrible: thin and smelly - far too dirty for me to enjoy (contemplate that and be very afraid!). But five hours exposure to air turned this into a magnificent, lighter styled Nebbiolo. It is wonderfully aromatic with very bright and red toned fruit; just roses and no tar. Light in body but wonderfully bright and vivacious. Gorgeous wine and I'm glad I let it sit in the decanter for hours because it really was vile when opened.
I don't drink wine because of religious reasons ... only for other reasons.

Too smelly and dirty, even for Otto - the Musaroholic! Holy Cow! Hard to believe...
