2004 Château Palmer
Great wines show a relaxed smile. :D
Expansive perfume of white flowers and truffels overlaying fresh, dark cherries and tar.
Massive structure on the palate, sappy fruit supported by fresh tannins and smoky minerality.
Too young, obviously, but I cannot resist enjoying its explosive energy in its youth.
Somehow I feel this vintage is not really suited for cellaring .. (not enough baby fat)
- My personal rating: 93+/100.

Cheers, Rainer

Oh thank you for this. I have a six pack that I've been eyeing because, for all that I've had mature Palmers I've never tasted a young one. I was thinking that the 04 might be the vintage to gain that experience from, and your note just convinced me that indeed I need to do that. Will stand a bottle up today!

I think you'll love it.
Once I had an odd bottle of 04 Palmer: very closed with little fruit and a bitter finish. Extended airing showed that this bottle was cork tainted.
Good bottles are showing complex florality with deep fruit and freshness. :D
