WTN: Two Hands "Gnarly Dudes" Shiraz 2004

by Bruce Hayes » Mon Nov 20, 2006 8:24 pm

Barossa.

Appears almost semi-solid as it tumbles out of the bottle into the glass.

Black in the glass, sucking in all light.

Black, tarry fruit on the nose, with pencil lead, smoke and a hint of light spices.

Very thick in the mouth, large structure, juicy black cherries and plums, dark chocolate, cedar, spicy. With time, the fruit became a bit leaner, but the "biggness" of the wine remained and it also seemed to pick up a faint vegginess (just a hint of V8 juice).

A very long finish.

Screwcap closure.

My son and daughter in-law introduced me to a bottle of 2003 Gnarly Dudes Shiraz this past summer. It was black and big, and we just loved it with ribs right off the barbecue. YUM!!
