Re Hoke's comment, this is certainly true of so many metiers. An instance sticks in my mind. When Ali knocked out Liston in the first round of their second fight, many a fight trainer insisted the punch was phantom, faked. To my eye, it was one of the most perfect punches ever thrown. Watching it in slow motion, years later, it lifted the formidable X-champion an inch or so off the foot he was leaning on.
