Susan & I tried last night w/ leftovers:
1. KellereiSt.Magdalena DOC: St.Magdalener Sudtirol-AltoAdige Classico Huck am Bach (13.5%) Cantina Produttori Bolzano/Bolzano 2010: Med.light color; rather earthy/dusty/loamy/granitic light grapey/Gamay-like mineral/granite nose; fairly tart/lean lightly tannic rather earthy/dusty/loamy light grapey/Gamay-like somewhat coarse/rustic terroir-driven/granitic flavor; med.long quite earthy/loamy/dusty/granatic slight floral/grapey/Gamay-like rather tart/lean finish w/ light tannins; a light terroir-driven quite earthy/loamy red that would be good w/ rustic fare w/ mushrooms; interesting but just that. $16.00 (PrimaIlC)

2. Bargetto Zin Lodi OldVine (14.9%) Bargetto SantaCruzWnry/Soquel 2010: Dark color; very strong Lodi/earthy/mushroomy quite ripe/blackberry/boysenberry/Zin/lush nose; very soft/fat very strong blackberry/boysenberry/Zin classic Lodi/earthy/mushroomy some dusty/OV flavor w/ little tannins; soft/lush strong blackberry/boysenberry/Zin/dusty/OV rather mushroomy/earthy/Lodi finish w/ little tannins; rather classic Lodi Zin w/ lots of fruit but lacks interest or structure. $16.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. St.Magdalena: This wine is something like 90% Vernatsch (Trollinger or Schiava) and 10% Lagrein. Dominated by this earthy/dusty/loamy character and rather a paucity of fruit.
________________
2. Bargeto: This is Bargetto's 75'th anniversary so they resurrected this original/retro label. Neat label, but the wine was pretty unthrilling.
