A couple of wines at Jojo's shop Sunday afternoon.

Ciacci Picolomini d'Aragona Brunello di Montalcino 2006 - Rather pale but nice and bright. Touch of rubber on the nose but it blew off after a few minutes. Medium bodied. Good, crunchy fruit. Tart cherry and raspberry. Still tannic and the acid is a bit on the high side. Pronounced bitterness in the finish. Good length. Very good but I think needs food to tame the acidity and bitterness.

Champagne Delamotte NV - Faintly nutty. Fresh. Medium bodied. The fruit here is more orange than lemon. Very good.

Dunn Napa Cabernet Sauvignon 2003 - Jojo finally got an allocation of Dunn. I know he's been pursuing this label for the better part of a year now. Deep, youthful color. Earth and chocolate on the nose. On the palate blackberries, plum and bittersweet cocoa. Dense, rather fleshy wine. Soft. Still primary but already very good to drink. The oak comes out in the finish but it is very well integrated and certainly not distracting. Lovely stuff.

Henri Gouges Nuits St. Georges Clos des Porrets 1er Cru 1996 - Smoky bacon. A touch musty. Tart. Unfortunately I wasn't able to give too much attention to this wine as I had to leave soon after it was poured.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.
