WTN: 2009 Aries Pinot Noir

by Shaji M » Wed Sep 26, 2012 12:08 pm

A Carneros wine from Robert Sinskey. Under a screw cap, magenta colored wine with a nose of earth and roses which opened up nicely in the glass. Supposedly an entry level wine from Sinskey, this wine is sufficiently complex and delivered far above it's price point. Went well with Coho Salmon during last night's dinner.

Good to know. I've always admired Sinskey pinots, though admittedly a visit to their snobbish Napa tasting room about ten years ago put me off buying from them since.

Jennise,
"snobbish" and "Napa" these days is redundant! If you go down the road to Darioush, all of a sudden the Sinskey tasting room seems oh-so-down-to-earth!!!

Oh, I know! And nothing tops Opus One. But the Sinskey people were especially rude, and they're not even related to the Rothschilds. :)

Haven't been to Darioush. A neighbor brought over one of their cabs on the Fourth of July, and that's all my experience with that label. Massively oaked wine, and even the neighbor didn't care for it very much--especially after I poured him a Karl Lawrence.
