Antinori wines in New York City Oct. 15, 2012

by JC (NC) » Sun Sep 23, 2012 5:42 pm

Ca Va Brasserie and Lounge in New York City (a Todd English enterprise) is putting on an Antinori tasting the evening of October 15 (my final night in New York.) They will have canapes or food stations to go with the wines but not a seated dinner. Cost is $65. I plan to attend.

I am so jealous.

I love that Antinori wines are made in certainly industrial quantities (such that they are available everywhere) but that they still, at least to my uneducated palate, taste "Italian". The basic $25 "Not-So-Super" Tuscan is leathery and tobaccoey and everything I like!

I remember you sharing a Tignanello with me on one of my visits to Sonoma. The Tignanello will be included in this tasting. I have only tasted it about three times and thoroughly enjoyed it on each occastion.

Brian have you ever been up to the Antinori winery in the hills on the eastern side of Napa? Call ahead and visit it's well worth the effort. Beautiful setting and some neat wine caves.
