Tried this last night w/ my garlic toast:
1. Jaffurs Grenache StolpmanFamilyVnyd/SBC (14.0%) SantaMaria 1999: Med.dark color w/ slight bricking; strong smokey/toasty/charred/Fr.oak slight earthy/herbal/garrigue/rosemary some fragrant/Grenache/strawberry/blackberry rather aromatic/complex nose; somewhat tart bit tannic/hard strong pencilly/smokey/toasty/Fr.oak rather fruity/strawberry/Grenache/Nehi strawberry soda pop slight herbal/earthy very attractive complex flavor; quite long strawberry/Grenache/Nehi soda pop/herbal/earthy some smokey/ppencilly/oak bit tannic/drying out finish; starting to dry out a bit but lovely Grenache fruit still and a fair amount of smokey/oak; still bright & spicy but should drink up.

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. I have, of course, along w/ LarryArchibald, followed CraigJaffurs from the very start. The SantaMaria address indicates this was when he was making his wine up in the Miller's co-op in SantaMaria; before he built his own wnry in SantaBarbara.
Craig's Grenache is always one of my must-buy every year. It has just the right balance between being a floozy/fruit-forward/jammy Grenache and a serious/profound Rayas Grenache. There may be some potential for Grenache in SantaBarbaraCnty I'm beginning to think.
