RIP: Joe Dressner.

I just read elsewhere that Joe has died. I never met him but always enjoyed his writings. His thoughts on the Loire Valley/Muscadet made me more interested in that appellation.

Sorry, I did not realise it was a year ago. I wonder if the family have continued to run his fine business?

This is actually the first anniversary of Joe's death which probably prompted the article, he died 9/17/2011

For quite some time, Joe participated in some NY area tasting with board members and even posted some notes....However, I have not seen any postings by the NYC crew in quite some time, not sure if they are still active or not..Hoke and/or Lou can probably provide the info re the business continuation scenario

Yes, his son Jules, his partner Kevin McKenna and his widow Denyse Louis have continued the business since his death last year. You can read an extensive tribute to Joe by many of the people who knew him and worked with him at http://www.louisdressner.com.

I still miss Joe, though I didn't realize it had been over a year.

I was fortunate to have known Joe who could be at times one of the most acerbic individuals one would ever meet in life. He was always very candid on every subject that he spoke about. He did rub some people the wrong way at times. The main thing is that he contributed in a very meaningful way to fine wines being brought into this country. Broke bread with him on many occasions and surely miss him even though that guaranteed me a scolding now and then. I do treasure the many things he taught me about wine and his at times brutal honesty.
