WTN: 2011 Cabernet de Saumur Rose' Reserve, Val de Loire

From the Cave des Vignerons de Saumur. Imported by Dionysus Distributing, Raleigh, NC 100% Cabernet Franc grapes. 12.5% abv. Synthetic cork that was somewhat difficult to extract. Medium salmon/coral color. Acidic, slightly tart red fruits, pomegranate, watermelon, unripe strawberry with citrus notes. Versatile with food. Good with both baked and fried chicken. Would also work with pork or ham dishes and possibly with pasta dishes such as ravioli or lasagna. A rose' wine that I enjoyed a few times this summer.

Good note JC. Lucky to have this on the shelves here, in fact I posted a TN on the recent Rose Wine Focus. I too thought it was a very good wine!

TN : 2010 Cabernet de Saumur, Reserve des Vignerons.
Wines from this co-op show up in AB from time to time so I am always interested to sample. 100% Cab Franc, $18 Cdn, 13% alc, synthetic cork.

Medium reddish strawberry color, light nose with floral tones and berries. Nice structure here, zippy acidity, cherry, strawberry. "Quite berryish" from across the table, seems quite dry and has good length. Think I might try to find that Mulderbosch Cab Sauv.
