WTN: 2008 Yamhill Valley Vineyards Tall Poppy Pinot Noir

A gift bottle; no previous experience. Highly polished and slightly candied in flavor with a Red Vine licorice kind of sweetness to the cherry and red plum fruit. Apparently fined and filtered, which cleaned up the Oregon character along with the depth one hopes for from an Estate (presumably 'premium') bottling. We had no trouble drinking it, mind you, but I would not seek out this producer in the future based on this bottle.

I had tasted this and I felt it was a bit too simple and candied for the price. It lacked any depth or complexity. I am sure there are people out there who would like this style.

Glad to know someone calibrated with me on this wine, and I always appreciate your affirmations where Oregon wines are concerned. No idea what this cost, but have to guess that it goes $40ish where I tasted $20ish, and therein lies the problem. Though you're right that some people would like the style, to my mind most who prefer that style aren't paying $40+ for their wines. Or, are they?
