WTN: KenForrester CheninBlanc OldVine '11...(short/boring)

Tried over the weekend:
1. KenForresterVnyds CheninBlanc OldVine Reserve WoO: Stellenbosch (14%; www.KenForresterWines.com; www.DrinkSouthAfrican.com) Stellenbosch/SouthAfrica 2011: Light gold color; quite attractive CB/melony/lemony/floral/fragrant spicy/perfumed talc/camomile bit chalky/mineral lovely nose; fairly tart bright/CB/melony/lemony slight mineral/chalky/earthy slight RS (.5%??) camomile/perfumed talc rather high-toned/pretty flavot; med.long slightly tart melony/lemony/CB slight chalky/mineral camomile/perfumed talc finish; nothing profound but quite a pretty CB that's fairly interesting and lacks the coarse character of many SA CB; one that CharlieOlken would even like.
$14.50 (SFW&S)

Tom, I do not appear to have much luck with Kens Chenin. I am quite a fan of Lammerschoek, an `08 was quite delicious.
Anyone in California making some noise with CB?

Bob,
Nope...not really that I can tell much. CB in Calif is sort of in the backwash. It needs someone to really
stir things up. I got a yr ago from DarrellCorti a Chalone CB that was made from the original planting
of CB up there on the ChaloneBenchland. A really lovely CB it was. And I've always liked the CB from
Foxen...old vine SantaBarbara stuff. MattRorick/ForlornHope is doing some interesting stuff w/ CB.
There was a Sterling Botrytis CB made back in '73 (by crackey). Absolutely stunning stuff..some like
MoulinTouchais. They came across several cases of these hlf btls there in the Sterling cellar some 10 yrs ago,
tasted it...found it was...gack...sweet...and sent it off to the dump. Stupid is as stupid does.
But why would anyone out there be interested in making a $15 CB....when you can make another
$80 PinotNoir or another $450 Napa Cabernet????
