I just opened a 2009 Ganevat "L'Enfant Terrible" Cote de Jura Poulsard with paella tonight, which was rockin': strawberry, minerals, smoke, gamey Brett with a bit of petillance in a bright, light-bodied package. Jean felt that it was one of the most inspiring wines she's had in a good while. Tomorrow we're going to a baby shower for a colleague where the wines will likely be the ilk of Cupcake. :(

Mark, last night had the chance to revisit the NV Rolet du Jura Brut Rose, made from Poulsard. This wine is always a winner for me. Burnt orange copper color, off-dry, good length. $24 Cdn.
In fact I am a big Rolet fan all-round, just wish I could find more Jura wines up here.

Well, i went a-wining last Sunday, partly to avoid the holiday weekend crowds. I expected to pick up about 3 cases, came back with 4, naturally.

I opened a bottle of David Coffaro '09 SB for supper tonight. My last :( ) but I now have a couple of 11s.
I bought a good steak for Sunday. Still mulling over what to open. Maybe a Yoakim Bridge cab or blend. I'll figure something out!

I'm dining out tonight. I may open a Riesling or a Saumur rose' tomorrow. Making inroads on my summer wines before the weather turns (which in North Carolina may not be until late October.) I will probably open a Pinot Noir later in the week and Nobilo Icon Sauvignon Blanc next weekend.

`07 Clos Roja Priorat, nice wine for only $20 so great intro for those not familiar with region.
Need to polish off my `99 Sandemans LBV Vau too, great bargain for $40.

In celebration of our son's 8th birthday, a birthyear wine: 2004 Ridge Lytton Springs which is still oh-so-primary, but structured and relatively food friendly with the Draper perfume well integrated. There are years left ahead for this wine, but it's appealing if young even now.

Likely a 1998 Chateau Montelena Estate Cab and as a backup I will bring a 2000 Bahans Haut Brion. Maybe I will just bring two of the first. I may open as well this weekend a Penley 1997 Cab Sauvignon.
Cheers

I can't play in this one until I know what the chef is cooking and that is usually the last moment.

That Flaccianello should be something, Bob, though I read some reports that the 97s are turning flabby.

The wine was at its peak Tim.
I have some interesting notes to post on the 09 Cru Bourgeois tasting from last night

We had very nice 2007 Archery Summit Premier Cuvee Pinot Noir on Saturday. Nice Burgundian nose of dark cherry and freshly turned earth. The palate was a bit simple, but nice and smooth with cherry and spice notes. Worked well with grilled mushrooms.

I don't see the Archery Summit wines around very often, but when I do I always snap them up. They are one of my favorite Pinot producers in the NW.
