Producer question

by Jon Peterson » Wed Aug 29, 2012 10:03 am

Does anyone have information on burgundy, specifically Echezeaux, produced by Mongeard-Mugneret? I am considering a purchase but have no experience with this name. I would rather get information from the folks on this forum than any other source.

Count me as a fan.
I wouldn't call M-M a top rank producer, but when you factor in price they are a top tier QPR producer. Still is somewhat middle of the road- there's some new oak, but not ever intrusive. Age well in midterm.
The regular Echezeaux can be a great bargain, I paid $40 for the 2001 and loved every one. The Echezeaux VV and Grands Echezeaux are a step up in price, but still reasonable.

Good news - thanks, Dale. QPR is what it's all about. I'll go ahead and buy some of this; I understand that 2009 was a ripe year but I'll hold on to this for a while.

Where are you getting it Jon and is there more?
Yes, and how many deaths will it take 'til he knows
That too many people have died?
The answer, my friend, is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

James, unless you beat me to the store, I'll be getting it at Corridor where they had three bottles in the bin. ($80! A lot for an old retired guy like me on a fixed income.) i'll check inventory when I get back to work tomorrow as there may be more in storage. If my memory serves me, Wine-searcher has it all over the map from about $60 to $250 a bottle. It is tough for me to buy wine anywhere else since they really do have good prices.

Same price at MacArthurs. 2010 kicks to $100.
