WTN: In which I drink Chardonnay

2009 Rhys Chardonnay Santa Cruz Mountains
This wine is in a sort of between state. It's certainly rich, and has plenty of fruit to go along with a healthy dollop of oak. On the other hand it seems to have an out of balance acidic element that is initially quite jarring on the palate. It's hard to reconcile the obvious richness with the acidic attack. Not really sure what to make of it. Left half the bottle in the fridge to revisit later. Judgement reserved for now.

Have enjoyed several vintages of Rhys chard..They seem to be at their best at about 5-7 yrs ..The 2009 is just a baby, albeit one with promise..
