Back in April 2002, Quivira winery in the Dry Creek Valley sponsored a trip to some French wine regions, and I grabbed a seat as soon as I could - it was too good a deal to pass up.
One of the places we visited was Edmond Cornu in Ladoix, where we got a good tour and some barrel tastes. I bought half a dozen bottles and carried them back home in my backpack - that was Before the TSA got overexcited.
This was the next to last bottle.
France, Burgundy, Edmond Cornu, Ladoix Premier Cru "Le Bois Roussot" Pinot Noir 2000
$11.78 translated from Euros back then. The price was definitely right!
Beginning to show age in its fore palate. Somewhat dusty, then the fruit appears. Long, smooth, gentle finish. Attractive strawberry color and distinctive PN nose. It was time, but not too late. Very very satisfying. With a veal chop and baked eggplant slices.
