For those in the Southern Ontario/Upper New York state/Pennsylvania/Ohio/Michigan area, consider attending The Pinot Affair (http://www.thepinotaffair.com). It's an event featuring educational tastings of Pinot Noirs at 9 Niagara wineries, October 13-14. The cost is $40 plus tax. There's also a $75 winemakers' dinner featuring Ontario Pinot Noir, but it's sold out.
Ontario has been producing some very Burgundian Pinot Noirs in the last few years (particularly in 2009) and this is a chance to try them. Most of the events are tutored tastings of the wineries' Pinot Noirs (either verticals or from their different vineyards), although Coyote's Run winery promises tastings of Pinot Noir from around the world.
I have no connection with the event, other than knowing one of the winemakers, but I attended last year and thoroughly enjoyed it.
