WTN: Ojai Syrah Thompson Special '00..(short/boring)

by TomHill » Thu Aug 23, 2012 12:44 pm

This appeared last night as a mystery wine in our Cab tasting:
1. Ojai Syrah ThompsonVnyd (SpecialBttlg; 8 brls; 15%) 2000: Very dark color w/ little obvious bricking; strong blackberry/Syrah/boysenberry bit licorice/pungent some toasty/charred/Fr.oak slight ripe/chocolaty fairly mature classic OjaiSyrah nose; strong Syrah/blackberry/boysenberry/peppery/spicy/licorice slight pungent/adhesive tape slight tannic/dried toasty/charred/smokey/oak complex flavor; very long smooth/velvety strong blackberry/peppery/Syrah/boysenberry toasty/pencilly/Fr.oak/charred finish w/ bit of a tannic/dried out aftertaste; a lovely classic Ojai Syrah w/ plenty of fruit & oak that shows some maturity but probably starting to dry out a bit. Drink up.
