Thank you for the notes.
I, too, have enjoyed the Kanzemer Altenberg bottlings from von Othegraven, but have yet to encounter any of theirs from Kupp or Bockstein. Although Altenberg is really their best vineyard, it would still be interesting to try some of these others sometime. Too bad that this one was a dud.
What is your overall take on Bürgerspital? I've only ever had one of their wines, and that was incidentally my first ever Frankenwein. My impression is that they are in that Franconian "second tier", behind the likes of Furst, Horst Sauer, and Wirsching.

Hi Andrew,
Yes, a shame about the Von Othegraven. I'm not going to give up on the estate, but probably won't buy anymore sweeter 2011s from them. Might try a drier Riesling though.
I've had some amazing wines from Bürgerspital -mostly Silvaner. They have excellent sites in the Würzburger Stein and Stein-Harfe. But yes. Horst Sauer stands alone IMO. And after Fürst and Wirsching comes Bürgerspital, Juliusspital, Schönborn and Löwenstein among others (May comes to mind.)
Cheers,
Bill
