RIP Fritz Knorr -longtime Kellermeister at Bürklin-Wolf

I received news today that Fritz Knorr, the longtime Cellarmaster at Bürklin-Wolf has died of a heart attack while on vacation in the Austrian Alps. He was 59. Herr Knorr was the 4th generation of his family to run the cellars at the historic Dr. Bürklin-Wolf estate in Wachenheim in the Pfalz. He was one of the driving forces behind German wine for the last few decades and will be missed by many friends. It remains unclear as to whom will take over the reigns at B-W.

Very sad news, a great winemaker for sure, one who championed dry Pfaltz wines and the concept of premier and grand cru in Germany.
