WTN: 2010 Tikal Blend

by Jim Grow » Sun Aug 12, 2012 2:30 pm

This Argentine wine, 60% Malbec and 40% Bonarda, from Tikal, called Patriota, was a pleasure to drink. Very dark purple/black in color, the nose had a dusty black fruit quality and the palate was of plum, blackberry and maybe a touch of mulberry with very integrated tannins. Easy to drink now but with such fine balance could age for 5+ years. Abv of 13.8 and in a VERY heavy bottle. One of my better experiences with an Argentine red wine.

Tikal's a class act. Believe the last one I had was called Amore or something very similar that implied 'love' or 'lover'. They don't skimp on the oak, but the wines always wear it well.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
