Wine finally hits the hamburger stands...but it may not be the way you think.

It's not like the French do it, where you can order glasses of wine or beer at a McDonalds (okay, that's not a great example, but it's still the traditional way).

Nope at Counter Burger in the LA area, they're doing wine milk shakes. So far they have Pinot Noir, Sweet Peach, and Mimosa shakes on the list.

So? Ready for your wine milk shake?

Pffft. Chris Coad's been drinking blueberry milkshake wines for years, especially in his legendary Boatloads of Cheap Crap miniseries.

Ah, yes, Coad the Turley Freak. He was always so far ahead of the rest of us on trends. (Heard that he was writing publicly again...well, maybe not publicly, but on that place with all the in jokes.)

Possibly there's hope for my future startup: drive-in wine tastings!

I voted: I'll try it, but I'm skeptical. My daughter, who is gaining experience as a pastry chef, makes bourbon and scotch "adult" milk shakes at the restaurant where she works and they sound much better to me than wine milk shakes.

While I agree that this would create a use for all those overly sweet Aussie wines from the last decade or so - just toss them in a blender with some creme fraiche - I still think that it is miscegenation in the first degree and should be punishable by placing the tender bits of the offending restarateurs in said blender and turning it on.

'sblood! What is this world coming to?:?
