WTN: Adam in the evening

by David M. Bueker » Thu Aug 09, 2012 7:22 am

2008 A.J. Adam Dhroner Hofberger Riesling Kabinett
I sure hope this is just in an awkward phase. Lots of reduction (distinct aroma of burning rubber - Laura confirmed that with her one and only sniff/sip) and the acid overwhelmed the very minimal fruit. I had been very much looking forward to drinking this, but sadly could not enjoy it one bit. I've had fantastic experiences with Adam's '08 Spatlese and the '08 Feinherb, but this was simply not good. Not sure whether to try another bottle soon or presume it's shut down and let the rest sit for a few years.

David -

Thank you for your note. The only '08 Adam that I've had was the Feinherb, so unfortunately, I can't help you much with this one. That said, the higher acidity may well have been to my liking.

Went back to the 2nd half of the bottle last night, and it had gone all lactic/milky. Something was not right with that bottle. Nasty.
